Paresh Rawal receives summon from Kolkata Police amid backlash for his 'cook fish for the Bengalis' remark

Paresh Rawal landed in legal trouble for his recent statement. The actor has been summoned by the Kolkata Police following his controversial “cook fish for the Bengalis” remark. As per reports, this development came after CPI (M) leader Mohammad Salim lodged a police complaint against his remark. Reportedly, Paresh has to be present at the Taltala Police Station on December 12.

It all began when Paresh, at a campaign speech in Gujarat, said, "Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?"

After receiving backlash for his statement, Paresh apologised on Twitter. He clarified, "Of course, the fish is not the issue as Gujaratis do cook and eat fish. But let me clarify by Bengali I meant illegal Bangladeshi N Rohingya. But still, if I have hurt your feelings and sentiments I do apologise."

Workwise, Paresh was last seen in Sharmaji Namkeen. He will be next starring along with Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon in Shehzada. Paresh will play an important role in Dream Girl 2, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday. Since Hera Pheri 3 has been greenlit, he will return to the franchise as Babu Rao.
