Vivek Agnihotri slams Anurag Kashyap's claims of Kantara, Pushpa destroying Bollywood; latter responds saying 'next time thoda serious research kar lena'

Anurag Kashyap and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri got into a verbal spat on Twitter after the former said in an interview that pan-India films led to Bollywood "destroying itself". Mentioning names of films like Kantara and Pushpa, Anurag highlighted the impact of those films on the Hindi film industry. However, Vivek wasn't convinced by what Anurag said in the interview.

Sharing a screenshot of a news report, Vivek expressed his disagreement. On Twitter, he slammed Anurag's statement and tweeted, "I totally totally totally disagree with the views of Bollywood’s one & only Milord. Do you agree?"

Anurag replied to Vivek's tweet and asked him to do a bit of research before reacting. He wrote, "Sir aapki galti nahin hai, aap ki filmon ki research bhi aisi hi hoti hai jaise aapki mere conversations pe tweet hai. Aapka aur aapki media ka bhi same haal hai. Koi nahin next time thoda serious research kar lena .."

Vivek reacted to Anurag's reply and tweeted, "Bholenath, aap lage haath sabit kar hi do ki #TheKashmirFiles ka 4 saal ka research sab jhooth tha. Girija Tikoo, BK Ganju, Airforce killing, Nadimarg sab jhooth tha. 700 Panditon ke video sab jhooth the. Hindu kabhi mare hi nahin. Aap prove kar do, DOBAARA aisi galti nahin hogi"

Anurag, in the interview, spoke about the successes of South films like Kantara, Pushpa, etc. and how filmmakers have jumped on the bandwagon of the pan-India film trend. He said, "I was talking to Nagraj and I told him Sairat destroyed Marathi cinema, the success of Sairat. Because suddenly people realised there is a possibility to make so much money so they stopped making those films. Everybody wanted to emulate Sairat."

He further added, "With pan-India, what is happening right now is that everybody is trying to make a pan-India film. Success will be 5-10%. Films like Kantara and Pushpa give you the courage to go out and tell your stories. But KGF 2, however big the success, when you try and emulate that and set a project up, that’s when you start heading towards disaster. That’s the bandwagon that Bollywood destroyed itself on. You have to find films that give you courage."
