SS Rajamouli's RRR is conquering the globe. After bagging two Golden Globes 2023 nominations, the filmmaker is now all pumped up and aiming for the Oscars. Headlined by Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, the film created the right buzz internationally after its release in India and other countries in March this year. While people are going gaga over RRR, Ratna Pathak called it a 'regressive film' at a recent event. The veteran actress attended a book launch event and spoke about RRR being a regressive film.
She told, "Films like RRR are so popular today. But it's a regressive film. It looks backward while we should look forward. We just feel whatever we are doing is good because we are part of the mother of democracy — India. Until filmmakers will not see their work critically, we will have to watch films like RRR. But we don't like criticism. Our ego gets hurt. This atmosphere is created by so many big people and, unfortunately, we have accepted it."
Speaking of Golden Globes 2023, RRR scored two nominations - Best Non-English Language Film and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu. The film couldn't make it to the Oscars as India's official entry but the team is now working towards submitting it in all 14 categories.
RRR released in India on March 25. It was produced by D. V. V. Danayya of DVV Entertainments. The film also starred Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris, Alison Doody and Ray Stevenson.
