In less than a month, Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan will debut on the big screen. The countdown has begun for the spy-thriller. Amid much excitement, the YRF-produced film landed in controversy due to its song, Besharam Rang. Now, as per the latest report, the CBFC has instructed the makers to make some changes to Pathaan.
According to a report, when the team of Pathaan reached out to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the members guided the makers to implement the advised changes after watching the film. Prasoon Joshi, chairman of the board, said in a statement that changes in the songs are advised too. The revised version of Pathaan will be submitted to the examination committee before its theatrical release.
In a statement, Prasoon said, "Pathaan went through the due and through examining process as per the CBFC guidelines. The committee has guided the makers to implement the advised changes in the film including the songs and submit the revised version prior to theatrical release."
He added, "CBFC is always committed to find the right balance between creative expression and sensibility of the audience and believe that we can always find solution through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders."
Prasoon continued, "Whilst the process is getting duly followed and implemented I must reiterate that our culture and faith is glorious, intricate and nuanced. And we have to be careful that it does not get defined by trivia which takes the focus away from the real and the true. And like I have said earlier as well, that the trust between creators and audience is most important to protect and the creators should keep working towards it."
Pathaan is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films. It also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The film will release in theatres on January 25, 2023. Pathaan landed in trouble after a section of netizens and politicians claimed that the usage of saffron-coloured outfits in the song offended the sentiments of the Hindu community.
