Samantha Ruth Prabhu made a rare public appearance at the trailer launch of her upcoming film Shaakuntalam. She is currently in the middle of seeking treatment for a rare auto-immune disease called Myositis. With a smile on her face and tears in her eyes, Samantha spoke about Shaakuntalam and her return to cinemas.
Samantha got emotional as she spoke at the trailer launch. The actress, looking gorgeous as ever in a white saree, said, "No matter how many struggles I face in life, one thing won’t change. That’s how much I love cinema and cinema loves me back. I strongly believe that this love will grow manifold with Shaakuntalam."

Thanking director Gunasekhar for giving her Shaakuntalam, Samantha added, "In Indian literature history, the story of Shakuntala is one of the most memorable ones. I feel so lucky that Gunasekhar sir chose me for this character. It is truly my privilege."
In November last year, Samantha opened up about being diagnosed with Myositis. Sharing a picture, she wrote, "A few months back I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis. I was hoping to share this after it had gone into remission. But it is taking a little longer than I hoped. I am slowly realising that we don’t always need to put up a strong front. Accepting this vulnerability is something that I am still struggling with. The doctors are confident that I will make a complete recovery very soon. I have had good days and bad days…. physically and emotionally…. and even when it feels like I can’t handle one more day of this, somehow that moment passes. I guess it can only mean that I am one more day closer to recovery. I love you.. ♥ THIS TOO SHALL PASS."
