Dharmendra shares rare unseen pic from old talent contest that got him into Bollywood, given by the grandson of the photographer

Veteran actor Dharmendra shared an unseen picture of himself that was submitted for a talent contest before he debuted in Bollywood and became an actor. He shared the picture on Twitter and revealed that the black-and-white photo was given to him by Anwar, the grandson of the original photographer, Jaan Mohammed, who had clicked the picture for the 1958 Filmfare Talent Contest. Dharmendra won the contest but the film he was supposed to debut in, as per the prize of the contest, never got made. Instead, the actor got his break in Arjun Hingorani’s Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere in 1960.

Sharing the old monochrome photograph on Twitter, Dharmendra wrote, “A photo , which was still with Anwar ….grandson of Jaan Mohammed who clicked my photos for Filmfare talent contest…. …..Today Anwar came to meet me and showed this left out photo….. i grabbed it to show this to you all. Hope you like it.”

The photo was instantly liked by his fans, young and old alike. A user wrote, “Sir so handsome Yong dharmji kiya din Hoge vo sab apko najara dikh raha hoga.” Dharmendra replied to the user with, “Arun, it is an emotional moment for me. A visit back to the beginning of my loving journey.” Another fan shared a pic of the actor and wrote, “Wowwww so handsome heman @aapkadharam sir lots of love sir God bless you.”

On the work front, Dharmendra will be seen in Karan Johar’s directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani that stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi besides him. He will also reunite with his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol for Apne 2. Grandson Karan Deol will also be part of the project.
