Illegal screenings of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan reported in Pakistan; Sindh Board of Films Censor comes into action to stop it

Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham's Pathaan is ruling the box office globally. While it is creating new records in India and other international countries, the film wasn't released for fans based in Pakistan. However, taking out a way to watch the spy thriller, some people hosted illegal screenings at Defence Housing Authority in Karachi.

When the screenings were reported, the Sindh Board of Films Censor (SBFC) acted promptly and reportedly stopped the illegal activities. In a statement to a Pakistani daily, the SBFC said, "No person shall make or arrange a public or private exhibition of a film by means of cinematograph unless the film has been duly certified for public exhibition by the Board."

The SBFC further said that screening of films not certified by the board may cause upto three years of imprisonment and fines upto Rs100,000 (Pakistani rupee), for those responsible. The Sindh Board of Film Censor further demanded that the private firm, Firework Events, should cancel its shows immediately. According to reports, the tickets for the screenings were being sold online for 900 (Pakistani rupee) each.

Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, released in theatres on January 25.
