Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani stole hearts when they essayed the role of sweethearts Capt.Vikram Batra and Dimple Cheema in their film Shershaah. Their song Ranjha from the film topped the charts and brought a tear to everyone’s eyes. However, the song’s lyrics were changed to suit the happy occasion of Sidharth and Kiara’s wedding on February 7, 2023 from the sad version played in the film. The reworked version of Ranjha was played at their wedding and Kiara made her bridal entry on the song as she walked down the aisle towards her groom, Sidharth in the picturesque Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Now, the makers have released the reworked version on YouTube for the fans.
The descriptionto the reworked video on the channel states, "From the moment they were reel-life lovebirds on Shershaah, Kiara Advani and Siddharth Malhotra redefined chemistry. Presenting the official extended version of the audio – Ranjha (Sid x Kiara Version), composed by Jasleen Royal; The Wedding Filmer; Kingshuk Chakravarty and Mayank Choudhary. WOW (red heart and heart eyes emojis) best gift for their fans.”
Ranjha was originally written by Anvita Dutt and composed by Jasleen Royal. The lyrics of the song were rewritten for Sid and Kiara’s wedding by Shraddha Sehgal and it was sung by Prerna Arora and Ashwani Basoya. Sidharth and Kiara fell in love while shooting for their film Shershaah, which was the biopic of Kargil War hero and PVC recipient Capt.Vikram Batra. While Sidharth played Vikram, Kiara essayed the role of his girlfriend and fiancée Dimple.
The Wedding Filmer gave a background on how the lyrics of the song were rewritten to make it peppy and happy and wrote, “Very few humans are so generous with their love that they are willing to share it with the world. She wanted to walk towards Sidharth on 'Ranjha', which is their song. 'But it's a sad song!' I argued. 'But it's our song!' She maintained! So we rewrote the lyrics with respect to fit the situation we were in, and suddenly, everyone's dreams came true! #twfclassics #theweddingfilmer #twfmusic."
