Former India cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly's biopic has been in the works for quite some time. It was officially announced in 2021. Two years later, it seems the biopic will go on floors soon. According to the latest buzz, the makers have locked the actor who will be essaying the character.
Reportedly, Ranbir Kapoor has been finalised to play the role of Sourav in his biopic. As per reports, actors like Hrithik Roshan and Sidharth Malhotra were in talks for the film but Ranbir was finally roped in. It is being said that the actor will soon fly to Kolkata and is expected to visit Eden Gardens, the CAB office and the former cricketer's residence before beginning the shoot.
As of now, there's no official confirmation about Ranbir being roped in for Sourav's biopic. Currently, the actor is busy promoting his upcoming film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar co-starring Shraddha Kapoor. In 2021, the former cricketer expressed his desire to see Ranbir headlining his biopic.
On September 9, 2021, Luv Ranjan confirmed producing the biopic under his production banner. The production house shared the news in a statement on Instagram, saying, "We are thrilled to announce that Luv Films will produce Dada Sourav Ganguly's biopic. We are honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility and look forward to a great innings."
The biopic is expected to trace Sourav, aka Dada's journey from being a celebrated left-handed opening batsman to India's captain and then the BCCI President.
