These are love and blessings that are coming back: Deepika Padukone tells Shah Rukh Khan and wife Gauri Khan on Pathaan’s success

Deepika Padukone has spoken about how she really wanted Pathaan to be a hit just for Shah Rukh Khan. In a new interview, she said that she ‘wished and prayed that it did well’ and revealed that she had told SRK and his wife interior-designer Gauri Khan that ‘these are love and blessings that are coming back’.

In an interview with an online portal, Deepika said, “Everyone came from the same place of wanting this man, who is part of our pop culture, to succeed. But for me, it is also my personal relationship with him that wants the best for him. I wanted the film to do well for him professionally as well as for his family. For a film to succeed, your intention needs to be pure. Deep down, we wished and prayed that it did well. There’s no logic to this. As I was telling Shah Rukh and Gauri (his wife), these are love and blessings that are coming back.”

Recently, at a media event for Pathaan, SRK spoke how during the film’s shooting, he could feel that everyone wanted that ‘yeh film Shah Rukh Khan ke liye achchhi ho (Pathaan should do well for Shah Rukh Khan)’. Shah Rukh came back with Pathaan after a gap of four years. His last release Zero (2018) did not fare well at the box office. He also suffered a personal setback when his son Aryan Khan was falsely accused and arrested by NCB in a drugs related case. So, tasting success with Pathaan was a way of shutting down his naysayers and detractors who said that the reign of King Khan is over. However, with Pathaan’s box office success, SRK’s superstardom has been reestablished.

Pathaan released on January 25 and has minted over Rs 1000 crore at the box office. The film also stars John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana. It is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra under his production banner of Yash Raj Films (YRF). The film is a part of YRF’s Spy Universe and is among the slate of YRF50 films.
