Guneet Monga-produced The Elephant Whisperers, which was nominated in the Best Documentary Short Film category at the 95th Academy Awards, has bagged the trophy! The Oscars 2023 was held on Sunday, March 12 in Los Angeles.
The Elephant Whisperers defeated short films like Haulout, How Do You Measure a Year?, The Martha Mitchell Effect and Stranger at the Gate. It marks the directorial debut of Kartiki, a filmmaker from Ooty.
Taking us inside the lush green Mudumalai National Park, the 40-minute-long film tells the story of Bomman and Bellie who devote their lives to care for an orphaned baby elephant named Raghu. The film currently streaming on Netflix highlights the importance of the environment where man and the wild can co-exist happily.
