After a successful career in the Hindi film industry, Priyanka Chopra Jonas took a flight to the US to attain global domination. With over 20 years of experience in the entertainment field, the actress is an inspiration to millions of young dreamers. Now, as she gears up for the global premiere of Citadel next month, Priyanka spoke to Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert about the reason behind moving to Hollywood.
Priyanka said in the interview that she needed a break from Bollywood as she had 'beef with people' and couldn't cope with the 'politics'. "I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break," the actress told.
Talking about debuting in Hollywood with music videos, Priyanka shared, "This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn't want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require grovelling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn't feel like I wanted to do it. So when this music thing came I was like ‘fu** it I am going to America."
In her initial years in the US, Priyanka did music videos with Pitbull, Will.I.Am, Pharell Williams and even met JayZ. However, when her singing career didn't flourish as per expectations, she began her search for acting roles. She eventually bagged ABC's Quantico. The global star further signed crucial roles in Hollywood films like Baywatch, Matrix: Revolutions and The White Tiger. She has Love Again releasing in May.
