Priyanka Chopra Jonas reveals why she spoke about being cornered by Bollywood, says 'I forgave, moved on a long time ago but now I was confident to talk about that phase of my life'

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden kickstarted the global tour for their upcoming web series Citadel in Mumbai. On Monday, the actors interacted with the media at the Asia Pacific premiere. During the press conference, Priyanka was asked about her episode of Dax Shepherd's podcast Armchair Expert and what made her open up about the dark chapters of her career in Bollywood at this stage.

Talking about the podcast and the reason behind opening up about her decision to start a career in Hollywood after a difficult journey in Bollywood, Priyanka said, "I think, first of all, when I was on the podcast I was asked about the journey of my life. And, I spoke about when I was young when I was 10, 15, 22, 30, 40 or whatever…So I was talking about the truth of my journey and now because I was confident enough to talk about that phase of my life."

She further added, "I think now where I am… I was okay enough to kind of articulate what I felt. I had a very tumultuous relationship with…what occurred, I forgave, moved on a long time ago and then I made my peace with it. I think that's why it was easy for me to talk about it in an open manner in a safe space."

In her episode on the podcast Armchair Expert, the global star shared, "I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break. " She also mentioned how offers of music videos changed her life. "This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn't want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require grovelling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn't feel like I wanted to do it. So when this music thing came I was like ‘fu** it I am going to America," Priyanka stated.

Priyanka will be returning to Hindi cinema with Jee Le Zaraa directed by Farhan Akhtar. Her co-stars are Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. Apart from Citadel, her international lineup includes Love Again
