Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy becomes the only Indian film to be screened at the 76th Cannes Film Festival

Kennedy by director Anurag Kashyap is the only Indian film to be screened at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. The ceremony will be held in May in France. Anurag's film will be showcased under the Midnight Screenings section. 

The Cannes Film Festival (Festival de Cannes) made the official announcement on its official Twitter page on Thursday. Kennedy was shortlisted for the screening at a press conference. It was announced by film distributor Iris Knobloch and Thierry Fremaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival.

In the past, Anurag's Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) was screened at the 2012 Cannes Directors' Fortnight. His anthology Bombay Talkies premiered under Special Screenings in 2013. Ugly was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section at the festival in 2013 whereas Raman Raghav 2.0 debuted at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival in the Director's Fortnight section.
