Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is currently busy promoting her film Ponniyin Selvan 2, reacted to the ill effects of fake news that's spread through the medium of social media. At the press conference ahead of the film's release, the actress called 'false writing' 'unnecessary and insensitive'. Her statement came a couple of days after the Delhi High Court instructed 9 YouTube channels to pull down content that spread false information about her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan's health.
At the conference, Aishwarya answered a question by saying, "It’s so nice that a member from the media only is recognising that that does exist. So that gives us great hope that you are obviously not going to perpetuate that, you are not going to encourage that, and thank you very much for your wise recognition of the negative impact of false writing or unnecessary writing which is insensitive and unnecessary. So thank you so much for your support for the sentiment that we all share and for your wisdom in recognising that."
Aaradhya, 12, moved Delhi High Court earlier this month against the tabloid for reporting ‘fake news’ about her health. A single-judge bench of Justice C Hari Shankar stated in the order that incorrect content regarding her health should be removed immediately.
