8 AM Metro trailer: Gulshan Devaiah and Saiyami Kher play strangers who strike an unlikely bond of friendship on their daily commute

The trailer of producer-director Raj R’s 8 A.M. Metro has been released by the makers today. The poignant drama featuring Gulshan Devaiah and Saiyami Kher in the lead, is being released by Shiladitya Bora’s Platoon Distribution.

“I had a strong emotional reaction to the script, a love story of sorts, of two strangers who bump into each other on the train. Under different circumstances, they would have made a great couple. I really enjoyed working with Saiyami and as for our writer-director Raj, he loves poetry and Hyderabad, both of which play an important part in the narrative,” shares Gulshan who fervently hopes that the trailer resonates with people and brings them to the theatres.

Around three weeks ago, on April 12, Padma Bhushan Gulzar unveiled the film’s poster at his Bandra home. The Sahitya Akademi winner has written and recorded seven poems while Kausar Munir has penned the songs, with Mark K Robin as the composer. Gulshan’s Preetam is a banker, haunted by his own demons. Saiyami plays a 29-year-old housewife, Iravati, fighting off recurring panic attacks. The paths of these two strangers cross and their lives change forever.

The actress was as moved as Gulshan by the script.  “The story also struck a chord and I loved Gulzar saab’s poetry.. Raj is a passionate filmmaker and the film is very real, relatable for many of us. It’s a story that needs to be told. It’s an example of how cinema can be tapped for a larger purpose,” Saiyami asserts, adding that her partner in crime, Gulshan, made the train rides fun.

8 A.M. Metro releases in theatres on May 19.
