India to host Miss World pageant after 27 years, Manushi Chhillar reacts


After 27 years, India will be hosting the Miss World 2023 at the end of this year. The country was chosen to host the prestigious beauty pageant due to its 'rich cultural heritage, its commitment to promoting diversity, and its passion for empowering women'. 

Miss India World 2022 Sini Shetty, who won Femina Miss India 2022 title, will be representing India at the Miss World 2023 pageant. In a statement to a media agency, she said, "I am so excited to meet all my sisters across the globe to welcome them to India to show them what India truly stands for, what India is, what is the diversity in India... I am really excited and looking forward to this journey. I hope you guys have the best time here in India."

Reacting to the news of India hosting Miss World 2023, former Miss World winner Manushi Chhillar wrote, "Wohoo! Super excited to welcome the @missworld competition in India!!"

India has won the Miss World title 6 times - Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017).
