Jawan Prevue Review: Shah Rukh Khan pulls off Joker-esque look as he gets into the anti-hero space; Nayanthara, Priyamani & Sanya Malhotra break the glass ceiling

As SHAH RUKH KHAN appears on the screen, a seductively charming and husky voice says 'Naam Toh Suna Hoga'. The voiceover appeals differently as the superstar narrates the core theme of his first collaboration with Atlee, the renowned South director, which is titled Jawan. No teaser, no trailer; just Prevue- that's what the first glimpse of the film is called.

Shah Rukh and Atlee's Jawan seems to be exploring topics like acchai-burai and paap-punya topped with loads of action, emotions and drama. In the 2 minutes 12 seconds video, the makers show different avatars of the superstar. From wearing khakee to going cleanly shaven, wrapping himself in bandages and sporting a bald look, Shah Rukh sets the screen on fire with his experiments. Don't miss his Joker-esque look with half face covered in white.

While Jawan has Shah Rukh's crowd-pulling benefit, one cannot ignore that the female characters have been given equal footing in the prevue. Giving due credit to their screen presence and strength, Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani shine through in action-packed roles. Taking references from Charlie's Angels, Priyamani and a bunch of actresses take over and break the glass ceiling rightfully. A sequence in the metro seems to be apt to provide an adrenaline rush for moviegoers.

Flying cars, explosions, women in action and anti-hero Shah Rukh- what else is needed for a big-screen blockbuster? Atlee's Hindi directorial debut is highly anticipated and the prevue just makes the wait for Jawan tougher. Deepika Padukone, who is in a cameo, isn't just an eye candy dancing with Shah Rukh. She's there to spice things up and beat him (yes beat Shah Rukh Khan) with her might and strength.

Jawan isn't just about action, the story as mentioned before, has a deeper connection with morality. The monologue said by Shah Rukh in the background sets the tone right for the action pieces and events that follow in the prevue. There's chaos, unanswered questions and a twist in the end. Shah Rukh, known for his humour and wit, doesn't end the prevue on a serious note. He injects a fun surprise.

Anirudh's background score deserves special appreciation. It is racy, pacy and hits the right notes. The cinematography lends value to the prevue and sets a new benchmark. The action choreography is phenomenal.

Are you ready for Jawan? We are!
