Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is known for his controversial statements and this time the took a dig at not only Bollywood celebrities but spiritual leaders too. Vivek pointed out that Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar are the main culprits for spoiling  the Indian cinema and further mentioned that they both have damaged the cultural fabric of India. 

The filmmaker said in an interview, "After the advent of Amitabh Bachchan as a superstar – not the one from Deewar but one from Shehanshah – the cinema after that never told real stories. Especially Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan’s cinema, that has actually damaged the cultural fabric of India in a very disastrous way. So, I felt it was important to tell real, honest stories."

In response to which some Internet users referred to him as ‘Mr. Kangana’, as Kangana Ranaut is known for slamming Karan Johar and his films unnecessarily. 

But Vivek didn't stop here. In another interview, the filmmaker went on to criticise religious leaders as well. “Aapne jo yeh modern dharm guru wagera falane, inke ashram dekhe hai apne? 5-star, 7-8-10-star resorts sharm kha jayenge inke saamne. Yeh private chartered planes mein ghoomte hain. Aap kalpana kariye ki Buddha private chartered planes mein ghoom rahe hain?10-50 bodyguards chal rahe hai Buddha ke sath, aur unke aage-peeche log khade huye hain, koi unke joote ke feeteh bandh raha hai, ko unko mala pehna raha hai. Maine apni aankhon se dekha hai main iss liye bol raha hoon. Main koi suni-sunai dharnayo ki baat nahi kar raha hoon. Aur Gautam Buddha ke kamre hai jo aap 20,000 mein khareed rahe hain. Phir Gautam Buddha ja ke kabhi Akshay Kumar ke sath, kabhi Kangana Ranaut  ke saath, kabhi Karisma Kapoor ke sath video bana rahe hain, ya photo kheech rahe hain. Kabhi aap yeh kalpana kar sakte hain? Yeh kaunsa dharma hai."
