Esha Deol is beaming with joy after her film Ek Duaa received a special mention at the 69th National Awards. Directed by Ram Kamal Mukherjee, Esha has turned to be a producer alongside Aritra Das and even acted in the film. Esha essayed the role of Abida, in a film, that deals with female foeticide.
In a recent interview with a leading daily, Esha shared that it felt wonderful to be honored on such a huge level. When asked about the success of her step-brother’s film, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, Esha mentioned that it has been a ‘Year of Deols’, following the success of her father's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and then Sunny’s Gadar 2. "It feels wonderful to be honored on a huge level, and for a film like Ek Duaa which deals with female foeticide. It is a big achievement for me to get recognized at that level. It was the first film I produced and acted in and it was a small effort that I have made towards such a big cause. Being recognized at such a big level makes me realize that I have done something right. God is great. As a family, we have always allowed our work to do the talking. It started with Papa (Dharmendra)'s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani followed by Sunny's Gadar 2 and then Ek Duaa getting a special mention at the National Film Awards 2023. I think it's the love and good wishes of our fans. It has been a constant support for us. I am immensely happy that the films have done well. As a family together, a lot of them say it is the year of the Deols so be it!"
The actress also shared an Instagram post expressing her gratitude.
