After the success of Aashiqui (1990) and Aashiqui 2 (2013), fans have been eagerly waiting for the third part of the franchise. Since the release of the second installment back in 2013 which starred Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Kapur, different names have been taking the rounds for the next part from Alia Bhatt to Sidhart Malhotra but there was no confirmation for a long time.

Earlier reports stated that Kartik Aaryan will be taking the lead in the film this time. Now, the latest reports are that the leading lady is Akanksha Sharma! For the unversed, Akanksha  gained immense fame after she featured in Badshah’s track Jugnu back in 2021. And seems like the actress is all set to star in one of the biggest love sequels this time.

Although there has been no official announcement on this, the actress was seen a couple of times meeting the filmmaker Anurag Basu.

A while ago Kartik announced about Aashiqui 3, he wrote, "Ab tere bin ji lenge hum. Zeher zindagi ka pi lenge hum. #Aashiqui3. This one is going to be heart-wrenching. My first with Basu da.”
