Anurag Kashyap is known for his outspoken nature. The filmmaker has always been vocal about the issues pertaining in the film industry and never hesitates to address it. In one of his recent interviews, he spoke about Ayusmnann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor’s film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui that was released in 2021. As per Anurag, although he loved the film,  the audience was uncomfortable watching the film.

Anurag further added, "It's such a great film. I love Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and I think Vaani Kapoor's performance is one of the finest that I saw in that film. It really was a very good film." Talking about the audience, he added, "They got uncomfortable watching that film."

CKA follows the story of a young man Manu (Ayushmann) falling in love with a trans woman portrayed by Vaani.
