Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has emerged as one of the biggest family entertainer films this year. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the film also marked Karan’s comeback to films after a 7 years long gap. The characters Rocky (Ranveer) a flamboyant Punjabi boy and Rani (Alia) a Bengali journalist, has received massive love from the audience and actors were highly appreciated for their performances in the film.

In a recent interview, the filmmaker went on to share that the story of the main characters of his film were inspired by a real-life Bollywood couple and guess who is was ? The filmmaker took the names of Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna! 

Karan said, “They have a tremendous friendship in their marriage. I've had dinners with them, meals with them, hung out with them. And there's a terrific kind of comfort in their camaraderie. He finds her hilarious, she finds him hilarious, for different reasons. So I felt it wasn't impossible for people who come from two different demographics of society, two stratas, to actually find love. It's like we put ourselves in boxes. Like when we're finding a relationship, we put ourselves in places where we're comfortable. But tomorrow, you can fall in love with someone anywhere.”

For the unversed, KJo and Twinkle are best friends since childhood.
