Sam Bahadur: Indo-Pak war of 1971 completes 52 years, looking at how Vicky Kaushal's film celebrated Sam Manekshaw's foresightedness

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw played an important role in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. He led the army against Yahya Khan and captured a significant amount of land during the war. It was one of the key events in Sam's career. In his biopic, titled Sam Bahadur, depicts this milestone cinematically. Vicky Kaushal plays the role of Manekshaw whereas Fatima Sana Shaikh is Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India during the war.

Sam Bahadur focuses on the Indo-Pak war of 1971 in the second half. Manekshaw's bravery, valour and foresightedness has been celebrated in the biopic in purest forms. In the film, director Meghna Gulzar has particularly highlighted how Sam knew about the war in advance and prepared the country for the same. He was even aware of the date and informed the Prime Minister discreetly.
