Jaya Bachchan's equation with the paps is known to the nation. While the paparazzi crave to capture her videos and pictures with their lenses, the veteran actress prefers maintaining a certain distance from them. This clash often leads to hilarious moments on red carpets. Recently, Mrs. Bachchan's former contemporary, Moushumi Chatterjee, seemingly took a dig at her for not being pap-friendly at events.
In a viral video shared on social media, Ms Chatterjee posed for the paparazzi at an event. Reportedly, she was not liking the constant bickering of the paps. Despite this, she maintained her poise and continued smiling for them. In the clip, the veteran actress was heard saying, "I am a much better person than Jaya Bachchan."
She then went on to pose again and said, "Actually, aap log nahi hote toh hum kahaan hote (Actually without you (paps) all we (actors) wouldn't exist)." The clip went viral, sparking a conversation on cat fights between actresses.
Moushumi Chatterjee and Jaya Bachchan go a long way. In an interview with Lehren, the former revealed that she was replaced by the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actress in Gulzar's Koshish in 1972. She shared, "I shot for three days, and I could see what manipulations were done in those three days. I could see Jaya Bachchan’s secretary; she was there from morning to night at the office. And all of a sudden Gulzar da, whom I had known since Geetanjali and who used to teach my mother-in-law Urdu, said, ‘You have got to shoot from tomorrow to little late in the night.’ I had just had a baby and I said, ‘I cannot, I have a child at home. I can only shoot in one shift.’ Then he said in front of everybody, ‘You know so many actresses are there in line to take that spot.’ I got triggered, and I said, ‘Then take them.’ From then on, his assistant Daddu Sippy used to call me ‘Ma'."
