Mannara Chopra became a national sensation after she participated in the latest season of Salman Khan's Bigg Boss. She ended her journey in the 17th season as the 2nd runner-up. Ever since the reality show premiered, her fandom has been snowballing and refuses to slow down. Today, as Mannara celebrates her birthday, here's looking at her background and personal achievements.
Mannara, born as Barbie Handa, is the maternal cousin of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Parineeti Chopra. She started her acting career at a young age with the Telugu film, Prema Geema Jantha Nai in 2014. In the same year, Mannara ventured into Bollywood with the thriller Zid. While Mannara might have not received enough fame in the Hindi film fraternity, her career escalated down South. She acted in various films including Thikka (2016), Rogue (2017) and Sita (2019). For the unversed, Barbie changed her name to Mannara in 2014 for Zid.
After films, she forayed into the web space with ALT Balaji's Bhootmate, in which she played a ghost, Pari. In addition to this, Mannara did several music videos such as Na Hona Tumse Door, Ham Reh Gaye Akele and Sukoon with Ashmit Patel. In 2023, she made her singing debut with Zara Zara Behekta Hai. After Bigg Boss 17, Mannara teamed up with Abhishek Kumar for the music video, Saanware.
In September last year, Mannara grabbed eyeballs after her Thiragabadara Saami director AS Ravi Kumar forcibly kissed at an event without her consent. After the video went viral, many slammed the director. A while later, Mannara spoke to the paparazzi at the airport and said, "Whatever news is getting viral, I think the director loved my work in the film. They keep calling me even when we are not shooting. I think he just got overexcited. I was taken by surprise by the way the video picked up. My film is releasing. It is a good film and I am so looking forward to its release. Whatever the incident was, he just did it out of excitement. There are times when people get excited and don't realise what they are doing. I have always loved the South industry. People have always loved me there. I don't think he had any wrong intentions."
Along with Thiragabadara Saami, Mannara's upcoming projects include a Punjabi film titled Ohi Chann Ohi Raatan.
