Sharmila Tagore has carved a mark for herself in the film industry and has been a part of several projects and delivered some of the finest performances.
In one of her earlier interviews, the veteran actress recalled how Satyajit Ray would make the actors learn their lines and revealed that he would never make them memorise it.
She said, "I started working at 13 and he never over-instructed us. I was given the script but never made to memorise the dialogues. He would come very close to you in your ear and whisper to you what you have to do and in no time, we were in awe of him. we were never nervous with him.”
She further added, "He would give very clear instructions. It was very easy to follow him. He would never treat a child like a child.”
Sharmila made her acting debut with filmmakers directorial 'Apur Sansar'.
The film released in 1959.
