When Tabu chooses a script, you know that it's going to be huge and worth the wait. While she continues to rule over Indian cinema, the actress has signed a Hollywood project. Variety reported that Tabu has been roped in for a recurring role in the upcoming prequel series, Dune: Prophecy. Her co-stars include Emily Watson and Olivia Williams.
According to Variety, Tabu plays the role of Sister Francesca. In an official report to the publication, the character has been described as "Strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital."
Inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune, the series was sanctioned under the title, Dune: The Sisterhood, in 2019. After clearing various hurdles, there's finally some progress. The official synopsis of Dune: Prophecy reads, "Set within the expansive universe of ‘Dune,’ created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit."
Alison Schapker is the showrunner and executive producer. Diane Ademu-John has co-developed Dune: Prophecy and serves as executive producer. Anna Foerster directed multiple episodes including the first. Max and Legendary Television are co-producing; the latter is also producing the film franchise.
Workwise, Tabu has multiple films lineup in India including Neeraj Pandey's Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha.
