Snehil Dixit Mehra, additional director of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi: The diamond Bazaar,’ recently spoke about the criticism that has poured upon one of the lead actresses, Sharmin Segal who is also a niece of the filmmaker.
Apparently, audience have pointed out that she didn’t reach as per the level with her performance compared to her colleagues which resulted in tne backlash.
Addressing the same, Snehal said, "Alamzeb was the only one untouched by the corruption of Heeramandi. She was not manipulative like Mallikajaan, a secret revolutionary like Bibbojaan, and not full of revenge like Sonakshi's character. Sharmin had to play her part very subtly and I think she has done a fabulous job at that."
She further added, "People are either loving her or dissing her, but that is part and parcel... These things get highlighted because when you are put in a cast full of such veteran actors, you are bound to be picked upon."
'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ released on May 1 and is streaming on Netflix.
It also featured Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha and Aditi Rao Hydari.
