Kartik Aaryan's relatives Manoj Chansoria and aunt Anita were killed in the tragic Ghatkopar hoarding crash incident. Their bodies were discovered by the rescue team on Wednesday. Reportedly, they were Kartik's uncle and aunt. The actor attended their funeral yesterday.
According to Indian Express' report, Manoj and Anita were in Mumbai for paperwork related to their visa as they had planned to visit their son, Yash, who lives in the United States. A former colleague informed the publication that the alarm rang when Yash tried to contact them on Monday but couldn't reach out to them. "Their son had been trying to contact them since 5 pm on May 13. Unable to reach Manoj and with Anita not answering her phone, he contacted his father’s colleagues for help," the colleague said in a statement.
He added, "As soon as he realised that his parents were missing on Monday, their son boarded a flight from the United States. Their final rites were conducted at a crematorium in Sahar on Thursday."
On Monday, a huge 120 feet x 120 feet hoarding collapsed on a petrol pump in Ghatkopar due to gusty winds, unseasonal rains, and an unprecedented sand storm. It reportedly claimed the lives of 16 people.
Manoj Chansoria was a retired Air Traffic Control (ATC) manager.
