The fifth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls will see voters from 49 constituencies across six states and two Union Territories cast their vote today. This phase of the general elections started at 7 am and will end at 6 pm. Bollywood celebrities exercised their right by making an early visit to their designated polling booths. Akshay Kumar was seen casting his vote at a centre near home.
Akshay visited the polling booth at 7am. After casting his vote, the superstar interacted with the media and said, "I want my India to be developed and strong. I voted keeping that in mind. People should vote for what they deem is right…I think voter turnout will be good. I was here at 7 am when the polling booth opened and I saw nearly 500-600 people inside."
For the unversed, Akshay cast his first vote as an Indian citizen today. Speaking on the same, the actor shared, "I feel great, amazing."

Akshay held a Canadian citizenship. However, on Independence Day 2023, he became an official citizen of India. He renounced his Canadian citizenship and had applied for an Indian passport before the pandemic. On the occasion of Independence Day 2023, the superstar shared a picture of the document on Instagram and wrote, "Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind! "
