Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan announced their separation back in 2021 but have remained good friends throughout. The duo has a son Azad Khan. In a recent interview, Kiran spoke about her first meeting with the actor and how they began dating.

 
Citing the same, the filmmaker, who recently released her film, 'Laapataa Ladies' which went on to perform well at the box office. Recalled meeting the actor for the first time on the set of his film 'Lagaan'.

She further added that they began dating each other while she began  the shoot of the next film 'Swades', whereas Aamir was doing 'Mangal Panday' at that time.  "That’s when we started dating," Kiran said.

Kiran concluded by sharing how she would travel for the shoots alongside the actor and would also work on the scripts of her upcoming films back then side by side. 

Aamir and Kiran tied the knot on December 28, 2005 and were together for almost 15 year before they announced their separation.

However, both were spotted together during the wedding of Aamir's daughter Ira Khan and her husband Nupur Shikhare. Certain visuals from the big celebration were shared on the social media and fans adored the duo for maintaining a healthy relation despite opting to separate from each other. 

On the professional front, Aamir produced Kiran's latest film 'Laapataa Ladies' under his banner Aamir Khan Productions. The film released on March 1 and followed a story of the post bride on a train.
