Tujhe Dekha To from Shah Rukh Khan - Kajol’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge becomes UK’s most voted Bollywood song

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol is surely one of the most loved on-screen couples when it comes to Bollywood.

Having featured together in films like ‘Baazigaar’, ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ the duo went on to win hearts of the audience again and again with their spectacular performances.

Recently, their song Tujhe Dekha To from the film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ topped the list as it became the most voted 90’s Bollywood song in  the UK.

BBC’s Asian Network invited listeners to choose The Ultimate 90s Bollywood Song from a list of 50 contenders. 

A panel made up of the station’s presenters Haroon Rashid, Nikita Kanda, Gagan Grewal and Nadia Ali, plus industry experts Asim Burney, Amrita Tanna, and Karan Pangali chose the shortlist.

It included song and dance numbers such as Ole Ole from the film Yeh Dillagi, to ballads like Bahon Ke Darmiyan, from Khamoshi: The Musical. 

However the winner was by unanimous choice - Tujhe Dekha To, from the 1995 leaving everyone behind. 

Tujhe Dekho To has been sung by Kumar Sanu and the legendary Lata Mangeshkar and is one of the most played songs across music streaming platforms for decades.

Directed by Aditya Chopra, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge released in 1995.

The film became a huge success and is referred to as one of the finest film till date. The film also featured Karan Johar, Amrish Puri and Anupam Kher. 

It was also the first project for which Karan turned an assistant director.
