The Chainsmokers reflect on their 1st collaboration with Priyanka Chopra: She’s such an amazing person

When Priyanka Chopra was still navigating her early career in Hollywood, she ventured into music, releasing singles with Pitbull and will.i.am. Around the same time, The Chainsmokers debuted with their first song, a collaboration with Chopra titled "Erase." In a recent interview, the musical duo shared the backstory of this collaboration and revealed they didn't meet Priyanka until eight years later.

Speaking with Raj Shamani on his podcast, The Chainsmokers' Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall reminisced about the early days of their career. Andrew recalled his internship with Interscope Records, where he was tasked with remixing tracks for various artists, including Priyanka. "I remember I got some vocals from the ‘Erase’ song, and they were like, the production is not right, can you make a new production? So I made that production and everyone liked it," Andrew shared. This opportunity came just as he teamed up with Alex to form The Chainsmokers, and they decided to release "Erase" as their first song.

Interestingly, despite collaborating on the song, The Chainsmokers and Priyanka Chopra didn't meet until eight years later. They recounted their first encounter at a restaurant in Los Angeles, where they finally introduced themselves. "She was there, and you know she’s such an amazing person. She looks like a star. She has this aura around her, so it was nerve-wracking," they said. Priyanka responded warmly, expressing her hope of meeting them someday. "It was super sweet and kind of funny. Eight years later, that’s the music business for you," they added.

The Chainsmokers were recently in India for a performance in Mumbai. Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra has begun shooting for her new film "The Bluff," sharing photos from the set. She will also star in "Heads Of State" alongside Idris Elba and John Cena, a project she recently wrapped up before taking a break.
