Farida Jalal needs no introduction and has been a part of the film industry over the decades. Mentioning about her recent project, the actress starred in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web-series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. In the same, Sharmin played a lead but has been extensively trolled for her performance by the audience.
Now, the veteran actress went on to defend her co-star and said that she gave her best and mentioned that it might be the case that Sharmin has decided to portray her character in less expressive way purposely. She said, "Uski jo capacity hai, wo jo actor hai, wo jo kar rahi hai, she did her best.” Further adding, "Why should we be rude to the girl? That may be her capacity just that much. She is Shayra and she is in love with my bacha and that's it."
Over the last few days several co-stars from the series have been asked to comment on the same. Whereas some went on to stand with Sharmin calling it inappropriate to be targeting someone so extensively. However, some did agree that she could offer more to her role and her casting wasn’t justified in the series.
‘Heeramandi:The Diamond Bazaar’ released on May 1 and is currently streaming on Netflix. It starred Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Taha Shah and Pratibha Ranta alongside Farida and Sharmin. Set against the backdrop of pre-revolutionary India, the makers also confirmed the second season of the series few days back.
