Taha Shah Badussha has gained significant recognition in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. He became the talk of the town for his role as Nawab Tajdar Baloch in SLB's first web series. The actor who shined for his latest projects recalls how he got to feature in a Karan Johar film. Well, Taha had a long film career before enjoying fame from Heeramandi. After debuting in the 2011 film Luv Ka The End (which also introduced Shraddha Kapoor) he bagged a role in Dhara Productions Gippi.
Before starring in Heeramandi, Taha had a long journey featuring in Baar Baar Dekho, Taj: Divided by Blood, Kabzaa and more. One of his films was Gippi directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Dharma Production. In a recent interview with The Week, Taha revealed that he ran behind Karan Johar’s car to get him auditioned. The actor managed to grab the filmmaker’s attention who then stopped the car and lent his time.
The Heeramandi star said, “He saw me, stopped the car, and offered some water. He called me the next day to audition for the film Gippi by Dharma Productions. That’s how I got the role.” Taha played the role of Arjun in the 2013 film Gippi directed by Sonam Nair. However, the film did not perform well at the box office. The movie is a teen drama centered around an overweight girl who struggles to handle physical and social changes.
Karan Johar too spoke about the actor, “Taha has a strong screen presence that combines machismo and vulnerability. I am sure he will have a great innings at the movies.”
