Kartik Aaryan has left fans in awe with his impressive physical transformation for his upcoming film "Chandu Champion." The actor, who is currently promoting the biopic drama, shared in a recent Film Companion interview that his preparation for the role spanned about one and a half years, during which he led a completely anti-social life.
“I was living an anti-social life,” Kartik admitted. “Not that I was very social before, but during this process, I was completely anti-social. And I started liking it.” He recalled the challenging moments on the set of "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2," where director Anees Bazmee noted a drop in his energy levels. Kartik had to find the right balance, which he found tough but essential for his performance.
The preparation for his role as the real-life Indian Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar involved rigorous training, workshops, and a strict diet. “It was about leaving everything that I was eating. Everything I was then eating was new to me. It was something that never tasted good,” Kartik detailed. This regimen, he said, turned him into a meditative, positive, and spiritual person. “I was almost an insomniac. Working out and working out properly without thinking about anything. I followed it for one and a half years, two years and it was a work of patience and perseverance.” Additionally, Kartik undertook swimming and boxing lessons with professionals to authentically portray his character.
"Chandu Champion," directed by Kabir Khan, also stars Bhuvan Arora, Yashpal Sharma, Vijay Raaz, Aniruddh Dave, and Palak Lalwani. The film was shot in locations including London, Wai, Jammu and Kashmir. Co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan, under the banners of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Kabir Khan Films, "Chandu Champion" is set to release on June 14th.
