After a prolonged wait, the trailer of the much-awaited movie Kalki 2898 AD was finally released. The film is set in a dystopian future starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in leading roles. Nag Ashwin's directorial is a larger-than-life film with sumptuous sets and a visual extravaganza. Ever since it was announced the flick attracted an audience for its humongous hype however the trailer has not matched the expectations and disappointed the audience.
The 3-minute-long trailer shows the backdrop of Kaashi city now named Varanasi affected post-war. Kalki 2898 AD is filled with some mindblowing VFX but moreover, it draws similarities with Hollywood movies like Star Wars and Dune. Kalki 2898 AD trailer fails to keep one glued till the end also the story is confusing to understand in just 3 minutes. The film seems to be dark and not suitable for a section of audiences additionally it is sci-fi and the genre didn’t perform well in the Hindi belt. Previous sci-fi Bollywood movies like Ganapath flopped on the big screens.

The film may work down in the South but fails to attract a Hindi audience. The film is inspired by Hindu mythology showcasing the end of Mahabharata featuring Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwathama. The audience has high expectations from Prabhas who outperformed in Baahubali and since then waiting for him to deliver a mindblowing performance which he failed in the past. Talking about his career graph previous movies Sahoo, Adipurush, Radhe Shyam and Salaar were disasters. However, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika will play crucial roles that may bring the audience to the cinema. The Kamal Haasan Factor may also work with the audience.
Kalki 2898 AD is directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Aswani Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies. The film marks the first collaboration of Deepika Padukone and Prabhas. It is awaited to how the film performs when released on 27th June. Kalki 2898 Ad trailer didn’t engage much and we would rate it 2.5 out of 5 stars.
