Adil Hussain responds to Sandeep Reddy Vanga's comment on regretting Kabir Singh role: ‘Even for ₹200 crore, I'd never do a film like 'Animal'

Actor Adil Hussain has reiterated his regret over being part of the "Kabir Singh" film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Hussain had previously expressed that he signed the film without reading the script, which he now regrets. Vanga reacted to Hussain's comment by mocking the actor's long filmography of "art films" on social media.

In a recent interview with Zoom, Hussain stood by his initial statement and firmly declared he would never participate in a film like Vanga’s latest, "Animal," even for a substantial fee. “What do I say to that? I think there are a lot of replies to that comment. If he is more famous than Ang Lee, I don’t know what to say… Very unfortunate that he thinks like that. His film did a lot of box office collection so probably he thinks like that. I don’t know the exact figures of Kabir Singh but Life of Pi did over a billion dollars so I don’t think he can compete with that. He should have thought about it before he said it," Hussain remarked.

Hussain revealed he has not watched "Animal," stating it is not his kind of film. When asked if he would consider any role in "Animal," Hussain responded, “Never. Even if they paid me 100-200 crore, I would never do it.” He dismissed Vanga's comment about him doing "30 art films" as a reactive remark without substance.

"Animal," directed by Vanga, was one of last year's biggest hits, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri. The film received mixed reactions, with some viewers and critics accusing it of promoting violence and misogyny. Despite the controversy, a sequel is already in development.

Adil Hussain is set to appear next in the Janhvi Kapoor-starrer action-thriller "Ulajh."
