Kartik Aaryan opens up on his journey from earning 1 crore to Rs 40 crore

Kartik Aaryan who is gearing up for his upcoming biographical sports drama Chandu Champion has often remained in the news for monetary purposes. The actor is counted among the highest-paid male stars. Kartik tagged as an audience actor doesn’t hesitate to speak of his relationship with money also he voluntarily accepts a pay cut. Pyaar Ka Punchnama debutant was always clear of minting money because of his parents' struggles and hardships he witnessed from a young age.

In a recent interview, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety Actor opened up on how much he earned in his first film and scaled to be one of the highest-paid actors. In a podcast with Raj Shamani, the host asked if he has moved on from charging Rs 1 crore to Rs 40 crore in a span of five years. Commenting on the same, Kartik cleared that Pyaar Ka Punchnama wasn’t Rs 1 crore infact it was Rs 70,000. He said, “It’s all instinct, and it’s your choices that help you shoot up through the ranks.” Chandu Champion actor was then questioned if Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was his breakthrough in monetary terms of earning Rs 1 crore. To this, Aaryan shook his head responding he didn’t make that much and started making money after Sonu. 

He further added, “Those days, I used to worry a lot about TDS. The tax would already be deducted from my paychecks. I made Rs 63,000 for Pyaar Ka Punchnama after taxes. TDS used to really worry me. I remember making Rs 1,500 for my first ad, and Rs 70,000 for the first film. And now, I’ve climbed up to this number…” The actor also added that ever since as a teenager he was sure of making money because he saw his parents always paying installments. 

Kartik’s upcoming movie Chandu Champion is based on the life of Paralympics gold medalist Murlikant Petkar. The biographical sports drama is directed by Kabir Khan and co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film is set to hit big screens on June 14, 2024.
