Ayushmann Khurrana has been a part of some notable projects for which he has been much praised. Out of them, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui remain to be one among the special ones. Now, Pride Month is on which takes place between June 1 and June 30 every year. The films are set to re-release in the theatres as they have significantly represented the queer communities and would be screened at the theatres from June 21.
‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ starred Ayushmann and Jitendra Kumar in the lead and follows the story of two men who are deeply in love with each other and as the story proceeds, both have to overcome the challenges and make their families accept their choices. Directed by Hitesh Kewalya, the film was released in 2020. Ayushmann portrayed the role of Kartik and Jitendra had the role of Aman, whose family initially rejects the relationship. It also featured Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao.
On the other side, ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ featured Vaani Kapoor alongside the actor and depicted the actress in the role of a trans woman. Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, the film was released in 2021. The film followed a story of a gym trainer (Ayushmann), who falls in love with Vaani's character without knowing that she is a transgender. Things become even more complicated when the family members of Ayushmann: character get involved. Both films have received much praise from the audience and are perfect releases during Pride Month.
Over the last few years, there have been several films that re-released in theatres and have managed to gather a large audience, who reached the theatres to once again relive the moments of their favourite films including ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ to name a few.
