Randeep Hooda unveils dramatic transformation for 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,' drawing comparisons to Christian Bale

Randeep Hooda is set to make his directorial debut with ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,’ scheduled for theatrical release on March 22nd. The actor has been sharing his journey of preparing for the role of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Recently, Hooda posted a shirtless photo on Instagram, highlighting his significant physical transformation. This dramatic change has prompted comparisons to actor Christian Bale among fans.

In the mirror selfie, Hooda appears noticeably slender, wearing oversized shorts. His caption, 'KAALA PAANI,' hints at his transformation for scenes set in the cellular jail (Kaala Paani) for the film. One fan commented, "Our very own Christian Bale!" referencing the Hollywood actor's extreme physical transformations for his roles. Another fan praised Hooda's dedication, saying, "Just look at the commitment... hats off!" and another noted his past dedication to the film "Sarabjit," in which Hooda also underwent significant weight loss.

Previously, Hooda shared images of his visit to a cell in Kalapani, where Savarkar was imprisoned. He attempted to confine himself in the cell to empathize with Savarkar's experience. In the caption, he wrote, "During the recce on his biopic, I tried to lock myself inside this cell to feel what he must have gone through. I couldn’t stay locked for even 20 minutes where he was locked for 11 years often in solitary confinement.”

"Swatantrya Veer Savarkar," directed and co-written by Randeep Hooda with Utkarsh Naithani, is a collaborative production between Anand Pandit Motion Pictures, Randeep Hooda Films, Legend Studios, and Avak Films.
