Shatrughan Sinha on Sonakshi Sinha- Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding: It will be a civil marriage, says the actress won’t convert to Islam

As per the reports Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding is set to take place tomorrow and over the last few days, the news of the same has been all over the headlines. Recently, father of the actress, Shatrughan Sinha, was asked about the traditions by which the wedding would be held considering that the duo shares different religions. Whereas Sonakshi is a Hindu, Zaheer follows Islam. Answering on the same, the veteran actor said that the wedding will be neither by the Hindu religion nor Islam and is going to be a civil marriage. 

He said, "It will have neither Hindu nor Muslim rituals. It will be a civil marriage.” He further spoke about the rumours of the actress converting to Islam and  called them nothing else but baseless claims. He mentioned that the wedding signifies the union of hearts and religion of either side has nothing to do with it. Shatrughan continued, "She is not converting and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts and religion has no role to play whatsoever.” He concluded,  "I
believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and
Sonakshi. “

Sonakshi and Zaheer met during filming their film ‘Double XL’ which released in 2022. The duo will tie the knot on June 23 and have been dating for years. Although neither side has so far confirmed it, they were often spotted together and their social media posts hinted at the same. Sonakshi even denied from commenting on the recent wedding rumours by saying that it’s her choice (to get married) and she isn’t obliged to be talking about the same. She also mentioned that people tend to be interested in her life and she can’t do anything about the same. 

On the work front, Sonakshi most recently starred in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ which released on May 1 and is streaming on Netflix. It stars Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha and Sanjeeda Sheikh. She also acted alongside Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ which released in April this year also starring Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F.
