Actress Sushmita Sen, who recently starred in the third season of Ram Madhvani's series ‘Aarya’, continues to inspire fans worldwide with her confidence, grace, and eloquence. Beyond her film and television roles, the former Miss Universe often makes headlines for her personal life, particularly her journey as a mother.
In a recent interview with Times of India, the 48-year-old actress reflected on her motherhood journey, expressing pride in being a single parent to her two adopted daughters, Renee and Alisah. As Renee approaches her 25th birthday in September, Sen shared her thoughts on the rewarding yet challenging experience of raising her daughters alone.
"I want to give myself a pat on my back as a mother every day," Sushmita said, confidently praising her own parenting skills. "I am not someone who has to be told ki aap kitni achchi maa hain (...how good you are as a mother). I already know that."
Despite the challenges, Sushmita emphasized the gratification she feels from being a single parent. "It was challenging throughout because I have done it alone. And so, the perception that 'Oh! She is Sushmita Sen, and she can do it,' is not true," she shared, candidly discussing the difficulties she has faced.
Sen also highlighted the continuous learning process involved in parenting, stating that she feels as though she is growing alongside her daughters. "Every day is a learning experience for me," she added.
Sushmita Sen became a mother at the age of 24, adopting her elder daughter Renee in 2000 and her younger daughter Alisah in 2010. As Renee prepares to turn 25, Alisah is now 14 years old.
On the professional front, Sushmita Sen made her Bollywood debut in Mahesh Bhatt's 1996 film ‘Dastak’. Her notable films include ‘Biwi No.1’, ‘Sirf Tum’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, and ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’.
