One of the most awaited films of the year Kalki 2898 AD mounted at a big budget is a dystopian sci-fi film starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan. Nag Ashwin's directorial created massive buzz ahead of the release for its storyline, larger-than-life sets, and stellar casts sparking excitement among fans. Kalki is another offering from Prabhas who has unparalleled stardom on a Pan-India level but his previous movies turned out to be disasters. Now, all eyes are on Kalki 2898 AD if Prabhas will be able to have a breakthrough or continue the streak of flops. The question arises as if he can revive the long-lost magic at the box office.

High-budget movies and Prabhas go hand in hand. In the past, some of the big-budget pan-India films have been headlined by Prabhas however, none of them were fruitful. Following the tremendous success of Baahubali, the actor has been garnering praise and love. Post SS Rajamouli's directorial the actor was offered several big projects, unfortunately, the actor failed to meet the bar set by his 2015 film and also couldn’t match his performance at par. Sahoo, Radhe Shyam, Adipurush, and Salaar were all made on a big scale but their box office reports don’t justify what into their creation. 

Prabhas is the most bankable star but failed to recreate the magic with these films which later turned out to be a flop in Indian cinema for various reasons. Baahubali 2 was the last hit movie delivered by Prabhas post that Saaho released which had high expectations of performing at the box office. Radhe Shyam having premiered on Netflix failed to impress the audience to even watch it on OTT. Adipurush was criticized for several aspects, yet it managed to gain numbers at the box office but didn’t achieve a hit title. Salaar too being an expensive pan-India film became another film on the actor's flop movies shelf. 

Taking a look at Prabhas career graph it seems difficult for Kalki in 2898 AD to attract audiences to theaters. Although the actor’s stardom may result in making impressive business on the initial day of release it could struggle after the weekend. Kalki 2898 AD directed by Nag Ashwin is set to hit big screens on June 28, 2024
