Sharmila Tagore recalls Mansoor Ali Khan’s reaction on her bikini pictures: he was calm and non-judgemental

Sharmila Tagore is undoubtedly one of the finest actresses in the film industry and has been a part of several projects throughout her career. Having debuted back in 1959 with Satyajit Ray’s directorial ‘Apur Sansar’, she went on to be a part of the projects like ‘Aradhana’, ‘Safar’, ‘Amanush’ and many others. The actress married Mansoor Ali Khan, who passed away in 2011. Sharmila however often recalls about the moments spent with him and mentions about the same in interviews. In one of the recent interviews, the actress recalled how her late husband reacted to her bikini photoshoot pictures. Calling him ‘different’ and ‘supportive’ she revealed that he was very calm about the same. 
She said, “My husband was very different. He was very little perturbed and extremely supportive. He was calm and non-judgemental. He was far away in London and didn’t realise what was happening here. I believe there were questions asked in the parliament. I had no idea that it could cause such a stir.” Further adding, “I was young, I had a good figure, and nobody forced me to do it. The cameraman asked me something about it, but I paid no heed.”

The actress also recalled presenting a car to her husband before marriage. She said, “It was before our marriage, and in those days, a Mercedes would cost Rs 1 lakh. You couldn’t buy a car directly; you had to get approval.”

Sharmila and Mansoor married on December 27, 1968 and had three children with him, Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan. She is also a grandmother to Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Inaaya Naumi Khemu Khan, Taimur Ali Khan and Jeh Ali Khan. The actress has remained away from appearing on the screen for the longset time however she accompanied her son Saif on the episode of Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan earlier this year.
