‘Kalki 2898 AD’ fails to surpass 'Adipurush' and ‘Baahubali 2'’s box office collection

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has so far been one of the most anticipated projects and finally released yesterday. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Prabhas in the lead, the film has generated high expectations among t  her audience and fans are impressed by the project without failure. Although the film has managed to earn commendable numbers at the box office considering the ongoing unpredictability of the performances of the films released especially in theatres, the film fell short in the race to cross the collection by ‘Adipurush’ and ‘Bahubali 2’.

The collection of the first for the first day stood at Rs 95 crore in all the languages. Originally made in Telugu, the film was dubbed in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. The Hindi version of the film has only earned Rs 24 crore whereas ‘Bahubali’ had Rs 41 crore and ‘Adipurush’ stood at Rs 37.25 crore.

However, the film has made a decent score as compared to the current film running in the competition and some bigger releases that failed to earn much at the box office resulting in becoming a debacle.
The film was however not released for the longest time and it took years before the makers finally got the film out. The release dates were also changed multiple times before finally slating it for June 27.

Despite not a grand response, the film has resulted in turning a decent opener for Prabhas and Deepika, whose previous projects didn’t make a huge impact at the box office. For Amitabh as well, who most recently appeared in ‘Ganapath’ alongside Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon prior to the release of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, the film has emerged as a grosser.
