Neeraj Pandey on de-aging Ajay Devgn and Tabu in the upcoming film Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha

As the release date for ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ approaches, director Neeraj Pandey has shared insights into his decision regarding the de-aging of lead actors Ajay Devgn and Tabu. The film, which hits theaters on July 5, reunites the dynamic duo in a story that spans decades.

In an interview with News18, Pandey explained his choice to avoid extensive de-aging through visual effects, a technique that has become increasingly common in the film industry. "For this particular story, you can’t age Ajay and Tabu’s characters into 21-year-olds. That would look ridiculous!" he stated, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in the narrative.

Pandey further revealed that Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee Manjrekar were cast to play the younger versions of Devgn and Tabu's characters. This decision was made early in the production process to maintain the story's integrity. "Using two distinct actor pairings to represent two age groups is what suits the story and makes it beautiful," he added, noting the physical changes people undergo after the age of 24.

‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ is a romantic thriller centered on Krishna and Vasudha, who are separated for 22 years despite their deep love for each other. Alongside Devgn, Tabu, Maheshwari, and Manjrekar, the film features Jimmy Shergill in a pivotal role.

The movie, presented by NH Studioz and produced by Narendra Hirawat, Kumar Mangat Pathak (Panorama Studios), Sangeeta Ahir, and Shital Bhatia, also boasts a captivating soundtrack. Songs like "Tuu" and "Ae Dil Zara" have already been released, adding to the anticipation.

As fans eagerly await the release, Pandey's thoughtful approach to storytelling and character development promises a compelling cinematic experience.
