Rajkummar Rao has established himself as one of the finest actors in the industry and continues to impress the audience with his work again and again. He had two released this year, ‘Srikanth’ and ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ where he starred alongside Janhvi Kapoor. Both the films have performed well at the box office and fans were much impressed by the actor once again.
On the other side Medha Shankar starred in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘12th Fail’ alongside Vikrant Massey. The film released in October last year and went on to set records emerging as one of the longest running films in theatres despite its OTT release in the middle. The film was made on a small budget however went on to cross miles with its performance opening more opportunities for the lead actors Medha and Vikrant.
Now, the latest reports suggest that Rajkummar and Medha are set to collaborate together for a film. Titled ‘Maalik’, the film will be directed by Pulkit, who most recently helmed Bhumi Pednekar’s Netflix release ‘Bakshak’.
A source in one of the entertainment websites was quoted saying, “While Raj has carved a niche for himself with his solid performances, he hasn't developed the image of a hero of the masses. With his next few films, he wants to explore that space.”
The source further added that the actor will require to work upon his physique for the project and also described Medha’s character to be “a soft, intelligent and sensitive actor who would be the perfect foil to Raj's character.”
The shooting for the film is expected to begin during the month of September and it will be reportedly shot at Lucknow and Varanasi. The official announcement from the makers regarding the star cast of the film is still awaited.
