Sonakshi Sinha on married life with Zaheer Iqbal and returning to work: ‘I get to live with my best friend’

In her first interview with Hindustan Times post-wedding, Sonakshi Sinha shares insights on her new life as a married woman and her swift return to work. The actress tied the knot with long-time beau Zaheer Iqbal, a relationship they kept under wraps for seven years. Their wedding became a social media sensation, with videos of their Bollywood-style celebration going viral.

"I feel everyone has attended my wedding," she laughed in her interview with Hindustan Times. "Zaheer and I went to Singapore, and people at the coffee shop were sending us congratulatory messages with pastries. Everyone who came to us said, 'Oh, we have seen all the videos from your wedding,' and I was like, 'Yes, everyone has been a part of our big day. It was really sweet.”

The couple took a brief honeymoon trip, which they shared on social media. She explained, "My best friend had a baby five days before the wedding and couldn’t attend, so we went to Singapore to surprise her and meet her baby."

Barely two weeks after her wedding, Sonakshi is back in the spotlight, promoting her upcoming film, Zee5's Kakuda. Reflecting on her return to work, she said, "I am very happy being back at work. It feels like I didn't go anywhere."

Having dated for several years, she revealed that not much has changed since getting married. "It's great actually and that's the beauty of it. I was just thinking that nothing much has changed in my life except that I get to live with my best friend now. And that's the most fun part," she shared. "Other than that, it's been normal. That's what lovely relationships do—they don't make you change who you are. So yeah, life is great. He's lovely. I am a lucky girl."

Sonakshi also shared a fun anecdote from her wedding, highlighting the close-knit nature of their social circles. "Zaheer and I were having a playful argument about which side our friend Saqib (Saleem) would sit on. We all have the same friends, so our guests were mingling freely. One day they were on my side, the next day on his. It was chaotic but perfect," she said with a laugh.

As she continues to navigate her new life, Sinha remains positive and enthusiastic about both her personal and professional future.
